COMBATING LIFESTYLE DISEASES
- The essence of love is mutual faith, respect and communication. That’s what is lacking when it comes to our own self. With the changing socio-economic fabric of our society in the recent times, the ability within us to love ourselves is deteriorating. We don’t listen to our body, abuse it regularly, instead of trusting the natural signals we tend to regulate it to suit our convenience and all these actions ultimately manifests into deranged health parameters, poor bodily functions and sluggish metabolism.
- So much so, that, simple feedback loops of the human body like feeling hungry or thirsty, feeling tired or sleepy tend to take a backseat in front of our work pressure and perceived busy lifestyle. We don’t eat when we are hungry and we don’t sleep when the body is tired and wanting to rest.
- Things get complicated when we further disturb the communication pathways by using algorithm-based apps (applications) and alarms to regulate our life – horribly so, even for a basic need of the body like drinking water. Thank God we still don’t use an app to cry and rely on natural ways for the tear gland to shed tears. But more or less almost every facet of our lifestyle has got effected due to poor communication loops within.
- Falling prey to lifestyle diseases is a result of above callous attitude which is basically not listening to our body, negating the symptoms and taking things for granted. The human body too, like other creations of God, relies on alternate means to douse the fire within, but once things go too far over prolonged period of neglect, abuse and inability to read yourself, the resistance levels break and it suddenly surfaces in our health report card as high glucose or triglycerides, high BP, high TSH, fatty liver, high uric acid, cysts in ovaries etc. Taking pills and medicines (drugs) along with your food becomes a daily habit and we get into the vicious loop of ‘managing’ and living with our lifestyle disease.
- Sadly, other creations of God, be it animals and birds in the wild or fishes and other creatures in the sea or even the pets at our home – they all communicate much better with their body, respect the early warning symptoms that the body shows up and have faith in the body’s ability to deal and heal.
- We too need to take a step back, breathe easy, say all is well and unleash the potential of this human body. We need to communicate better with ourselves. Our body is trying to tell us something 24 x 7; its only we who seem to be too busy in our lives to listen to our inner call. The moment this communication loop improves, things will start falling in place. Listening to your body, understanding the signals and responding to this inner natural call is the first step towards your journey of reversing lifestyle ailments.
